Can pipe tobacco be smoked out of a corn cob pipe? Is this a good type of pipe for doing so?

Of course it can. Corn cob pipes are the original pipes. All others are imitations.

it can be but it's not a particularly good device for smoking good tobacco. the cob is too soft and given to smoldering.

I've seen my step-father smoking from his corn cob pipes, but he does seem to prefer the ones made from different woods.
