signed a prenup 12yrs ago-stated needed resigning after wedding but not longer then 6 months- wasn't resigned -is prenup still in effect?

Filing late for widow SS benefits(depression-shock & grief), told would only be paid for 6-months back. Why? I am entitled to them!
