Some also may suggest that it represents the genome of genetics. The lowercase g was an ancient symbol for the serpent. If you look at the AMA(American Medical Association) they use the serpent as there symbol. I believe it all derives from the ancient mystery schools of Egypt. These ancient occult(meaning hidden)ideas found there way into modern secret societies.
