even if not, keep in mind that using the mp3 player on more than one computer could spread a virus.

The question doesn't deal with an issue with pc's or the spread of viri, but The MP3 PLAYER itself, which everyone has missed. I wish comments were back :( In a nutshell, no. A virus is written to infect and wreak havoc in a target operating system. You won't see many of them that go cross platform and if they do, it's because there are two or more of them packaged as one. A personal MP3 player uses it's own basic type of operating system. One that is simply not worth writing malicious code for.I very seriously doubt that a hacker will go out of his way to write code for them...ever. The effects on the player will either degraded sound when playing the file (if it plays at all) and wasted space in memory. If you know a file to be infected on your player, best to delete it and follow up with a virus scan of both the info on the MP3 player and the pc it was hooked up to. Someone is likely to post "what about cell phone viri?". Hackers DO have something to gain by writing code for them.
