  • I quit after the 2 week paid training was over, I was tired of working in call centers and I just started college.
  • The shortest job I ever had was as one of the munchkins in the Wizard Of Oz.
  • How about getting hired and then never showing up the next day because you changed your mind about painting, dry walling, etc.
  • I lasted 3 weeks as an admin manger at a water company....it was just like "the Office"...the boss even looked like Ricky Gervais!!...I walked out because he was a total idiot and treated his staff like 2nd class loosers....no time for thoose kind of people even if I am being paid :0
  • One night at a Jack in the Box out on Long Island. The paper hat didn't go with my image and I was afraid of the taco ingredients;)
  • I worked at a clothing discount store and no one there spoke fluent English. I was tired of being written up and them not being able to explain why!!!
  • Well, I worked in a gay pub for 2 and half years and loved it. But then it closed down for refurbishment. They kept me on and i went back when they reopened, but it wasn't a gay pub any more, it had become a poncey gastro pub, and the new people who took over wanted me to dress smart and wait tables and stuff. Of course, i love food and drink as much as anyone else, but i can't convince people to spend loads of money on it. Plus I was studying at the time, so I just wanted an easy bar job where I could just pull pints and collect glasses. Anyway, After the refurb, I did about 2 shifts and got the f*ck out of there.
  • I was a bill collector...for six months. It was a "management training" job. Right. (lol!) I was just out of the military and was trying to get myself oriented back into the "real world". The suckage factor was heavy, indeed. I quit when I was given the name of an old school buddy to collect an outstanding payment on a loan. I knew the problems he was having. I enrolled in college the next week on the G.I. Bill. I was poor for a long time, but it was the best decision of my life...
  • I worked for 3 hours at Wendy's. It sucked so much, I left on my first break.
  • A friend of mine found me a job at a shoe store. I was really excited, because I had been with out work for a long time. But the sales were so slow that I was let go at the end of the first week. I was so disappointed.
  • The shortest temp job was 10 minutes.... I walked off the job. I went to the agency and told them why I walked off. My shortest full time job was 4 months.
  • I actually had no intention of staying at the job I took that landed me in my current job. 34 mile commute, contract position w/ no benefits, seemed to be a short term (cupla months) gig...I blew off my original start date and got it rescheduled. Once I finally went there, I had no intention of staying. Hell, I didn't even know for sure I was actually hired when I showed up. I just went there and worked. The nutty thing is, by the end of the first day I loved it and wanted to stay....so I came back the next day. I wasn't convinced I was even on the payroll until I got my first check. Not quite a year later I got on the parent company as a perm employee instead of a no-beni contractor. Nobody else on my old team got there yet...but a few are in the running for perm positions in other depts. I answered this question cause when I went in on day one, I had absolutely no intent of coming back for day 2....until I got thru day 1 and I changed my mind :) Change is good. (outside of that, I had a construction job for 1½ days once. I quit and got fired simultaneously cause I was a yankee that moved south and took a wheelbarrow pusher job in the middle of summer, wore all black, and just couldn't handle the heat.) wow...1989 seems so long ago!

  • I trained at a phone company for about 3 weeks. There were about 10 screens we had to learn. I know it couldn't have been that hard if so many others were doing it, but I just couldn't keep them all straight in my head. I finally went to the trainer and told him I just wasn't getting it, and I should stop wasting his time if I wasn't going to be of any use to them.
  • I spent 8 hours as a hermit crab saleslady at a kiosk in the mall the day after thanksgiving. I could not possibly make this up. It is sadly true! They had things painted on their shells, such as spiderman ,and I had to dispose of the dead ones in the food court trash. I'm sorry.
  • I was hired at a clothing and housewares resale shop as the assistant manager. A lot of the people who worked there had been there for years and were furious that an outsider came in and took a management position, therefore treating me horribly as of day one. Add to that the fact I was a 'salaried' employee who was expected to make a 40 hour paycheck and soon realized I would never be allowed to work under fifty hours a week. When my son needed to go to the hospital, and the manager told me "I don't believe you.", I walked out the door and didn't look back. I think I was there for two weeks.
  • When i was 19 i worked on the ferries cleaning....and as i hadn't declared my pathetic criminal record, i had a phone call asking me to come into the office, i knew what it was going to be about, so i worked 2 hrs then left, instead of facing the humiliation of being sacked!

  • I worked in a factory, placing make-up samples into packages for about a week. I think they fired me because I changed the radio station from Country, to Rock. :)
  • I had just graduated from "Busniess college" which means I learned how to type and do 10 key. I was applying for office jobs and had an interview in Culver City Ca. Did the interview, did well in the interview, was shown the office and everything. Got a call back to start work 2 days later, started the following Monday. Got there at 7am. Was escorted to "a back room" shown a cubicle and a phone book and told to start calling people and read them the script on "my" desk. I sat down, stared into space for about 10 minutes, got up... asked the manager if I could go across the street and get some Tylenol... went out the door, got in my car... drove off... never looked back. I was back in my bed at 755am.

  • I worked in a Greek-owned diner for about 2 hrs. The owner told me to go get the sauerbraten from the walk-in. I asked "where"? He said in a white pickle bucket. I looked in there, and there were 50 white pickle buckets in there. I asked "Which"? he said, "The one with the green mold on top." He was not kidding. There was no plastic wrap on anything in there. It was all put in the walkin, without benefit of cooling, in the white buckets, and left to cool, for days, building a nice little colony of lillypads. I have been blessed with an iron constitution, but the idea that this man was about to serve this, to a supposedly "good" customer who "comes in all the time" gave me the whim-whams. I quit without ceremony then and there. I was 17.
  • I delivered some advertising flyers for a real estate agent ... a temporary part time job ... he had only one thousand flyers and I was able to deliver them in just under 4 hours.
  • One week..............guy had a HUGE parrot in the office and said "do not go near him; he bites". I spent one whole week (boss out of town) worrying about whether I would be attacked by the bird. The hell with that...................I quit after one week.
