According to information found at www.businesshistory.net this are the 10 oldest companies working in what is today American soil (note that some of them are older than US Independence): 1 J.E. Rhoads & Sons (conveyor belts) 1702 2 Covenant Life Insurance 1717 3 Philadelphia Contributionship (insurance) 1752 4 Dexter (adhesives and coatings) 1767 5 D. Landreth Seed 1784 6 Bank of New York 1784 7 Mutual Assurance 1784 8 Bank of Boston 1784 9 George R. Ruhl & Sons (bakery supplies) 1789 10 Burns & Russell (building materials) 1790 They don't say if all of them are still working today, but I assumed so. Or probably they have evolved and merged. Some of them are very known companies.

The first largest and most profitable industry in the US was Black African slavery. even after it was made illegal about 1870. Slavery was more profitable than All US industries combined. The blacks were called a slang word that came from the name of, short for the nation Nigeria. The woman and men beaten, raped and dishonored and many died before they reached the US. Next to abortion(50million) it is still the US most embarrassing and impacting event in US history. The charge and consequence of which is yet to be seen. Best regards
