Society as a whole? Well there are bad people out there. But, mostly there are good people out there. That's the way it's always been. Thank God it's not the reverse of that.
-
Emphasis or obsession with materialistic things, selfishness and lack of respect for others (like the elderly) jmo

Self interest. Ego. It's all about ME. ME ME ME ME ME.

Too many people going around asking "what's wrong with society today?" instead of doing something about what's wrong..
-
we spend to much time trying to be "politically correct" If we'd had that attitude during WWII we'd all be speaking German and Japanese today.

Lack of family, selfishness, lack of ethical values, and a disfunctional justice system

I believe everything is as it must be today to make everything as it should be for tomorrow's advancement of humanity. People generally need actual evidence that thigs ARE going wrong, as opposed a mere possibility of such, before they decide to care. We all need to feel a bit of global warming before we decide to care, we need to find lead in sweetshop made toys, we need the middle class to be subverted and destroyed. We need enough people to experience a bit of the current truth about a situatuion to stimulate demand for change. All of us, both as individuals and as a cultural composite, choose to create both what is right and what is wrong at any given moment. Some people are smarter than others, so they figure things out sooner which makes them feel as if things are wrong more intensly than someone who doesn't figure it out until later, when something is already being done.

sex obsession, media; and everything about it, its now more and more socially acceptable to be fat, lazy, and stupid. The interest and appreciation of Educators and those in the Entertainment Industry is imbalanced, porn, Feminists, Male Schovanists, government lies, selfishness, money, greed, hypocracy, racism, sexism, abuse, hate, gluttony,Drugs, advertising, drop of belief in religion, the economy.... Humanity has proved thier intillegence by amazing inventions. The tv's computers, and the growing medical accomplishments are how we show what we've made of ourselves, but now that we have such inventions, we rely on them so much that its almost impossible to think of life without them. god forbid we didnt have our cell phone or car... our lives have become bombarded with advertising. name a place besides your home (if you have no tv) that doesn't have advertisements. We are shown what love, sex, women, men, and society should be like. Instead of encouraging modesty, intelligence, or kindness, Its Stupidity, sleazy, selfish, and rudness that are being glorified. ...Does anyone know what a beautiful female, or handsome man really look like anymore? Divorce is another problem.. With this ridiculous idea that was put in peoples heads that they deserve to marry someone perfect, Marriage means nothing anymore. What "to death do you part" means is; when things get tough in the short 3-5-10 years, go ahead and divorce. No one tries anymore. Its all about instant self satisfaction.

respect for others, and the media telling us how we NEED all this new technology to make our lives easier life is not supposed to be easy, pop culture in America, corruption everywhere

Most people are so easily manipulated by the mainstream media and the government. People are don't question the motives of the War in the Middle East enough. Freedom of expression is limited to the voice of the majority, and it is career suicide to expose the illuminati and the corruption of the United States Goverment -

Too many damn liberals in congress trying to tell others how to live their lives.

I for one person in this world would think that people in general make there own outcomes on what is wrong in your own life and judge what is wrong in other peoples lives to make it less hard for yourself. sure there might have been someone else in your life that lets you understand something is not just right but you either fix it or you don't. people just let thing go the way it is now in our economy. our own little society of a world we think is judge by something higher up then our own beings to control. we as people make everything wrong as long as you see it that way and don't do a damn thing about it. pardon my language sorry....

Everybody wants what everybody else has.

I'm basing my answer on the western world, because that's what my main experience is of. There's too much pressure to conform to 'ideals' created by the media, and an awful lot of people have too much leisure time and not enough of a challenge in their lives, hence the lure of dangerous sports and the like. Too many of us are so far removed from basic survival and understanding of how things work that we have to rely on having things done for us all the time. The most useful things I learned at school were reading, writing, basic mathematics and food and nutrition, but much of my time at school was a waste, in my opinion. Some people are natural academics, but for those that are not, I think fewer years at school and more practical subjects teaching self-sufficiency and people skills would result in more rewarding lives. I think that learning how to live and communicate with others, and learning to find contentment in your situation, would result in less mental illness and happier, more fulfilled, lives for many people.
