No, why? Some questions/answers are either so offensive or stupid as to deserve downratings. If anything, AB should eliminate the people that misuse the downrates.

Yeah. I don't believe in downrates. Why? If a question or answer isn't that bad to be considered either nonsense or spam/offensive, then it's acceptable and therefore, doesn't deserve a DR. If a question or answer is indeed either nonsense or spam/offensive, why downrate? Flag! I've done that several times.

No. The ability to downrate would make people think twice about the questions they ask and the answers they give. Helps to keep AB decent.

No. It should eliminate the idea that you HAVE to give points for everything and that all questions and answers are created equally. It should do away with the anti-downrate squad who make it impossible to DR based on an answer being incorrect or patently false (fact based, not opinion based As). Or go back to the rating system that was based on accuracy and not points (AB has not always been a "contest").
