They lose consciousness and then their lungs fill up with fluid.

When a user overdoses on heroin their breathing is slowed and sometimes stopped altogether. Death from an overdose usually occurs over a longer period of time and is rarely an instantaneous occurrence. The breathing is slowed down so much that their is minor brain damage, which can lead to more troubles breathing. Eventually the breathing slows down so much that the brain suffers irreversible damage. The lungs will fill with fluid and once breathing stops the brain will die. 80% of heroin overdoses occur because the heroin is used in conjunction with another depressant such as alcohol or sleeping pills.

What happens is you realise you have had too much but the pleasures to great to be able to move. Then you drift off. If someone walks you around, you come in and out of it till the narcain comes and ruins it all. Death is not instant

If you've managed to slam up an OD on some juicy noddy,you will feel an exquisitely pleasant and sensationally euphoric feeling(called a rush)first,to the back and base of your head,and a lovely warm glow will then quickly invade your whole body.Everyone who whacks up scag wants to get a decent rush and a nod off effect with each hit,coz if ya don't get a decent buzz you've been ripped off aint ya(but ya don't normally want a deadly blast,unless,of course you do,but that's another story innit).I've OD'd quite a few times meself,on quite a few drugs and luckily for me I've been saved by friends and medical intervention.On one occassion when I did up a big one I even managed to tell me friends next to me,who were waiting to see how good the smack was that I'd scored,and also waiting to use me fit,"Uhh fuck it,I'm gone,see yezzzz",and then I toppled over and headbutted the floor.I got revived by paramedics after flatlining.After becoming straight enough in the Intensive Care Unit,(this was pre naltraxone days)to be able to focus enough on still being alive,a kindly nurse showed me my flatlined heart monitor readout.Becoz I have died a few times(and been resucitated from smack OD's),I can tell ya this,when ya "know" you've been a bit of a greedy fukkin bastard or you've scored some really fantastic quality gear and mistakenly shot up too much and your on ya way to the big needle bin in junkie paradise from an OD,you will simply just accept it,because it really is a magic non scary feeling.And I guarantee you will enjoy your imminent death as ya go on ya way.Lucky for me I've always really dug sharing me smack,so every time I've pigged out and literally,physically dropped dead,a friend who's not already on the nod has got the Ambo's around to let me live to have another taste.
