  • Probably they have too many sick people from eating "Freedom Fries", HA HA just kidding, we in Canada also have free health care.
  • see the documentary "sicko" i think it's called it can really rile up some feelings concerning american health care system
  • You say the best health care because it's free? All you have to do is go to NY, Boston, Houston and few other major medical centers and you will find the hospitals have been packed with Europeans and Canadians, South Americans etc. The wealthy from these countries come here for major surgery. So if France has the best health care why does it's wealthy come here to get medical attention.
  • Thank you for pointing at this interesting article, here again, the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080108/lf_afp/ushealthfrancemortality_080108191353 I think that the French managed to give everyone a good minimal health care at the costs of the whole society. But this could also change in the future. In other countries, the whole society does not want to pay so much for those who need health care. They consider that people who are seldom ill should not have to pay so much, or that not so much money should be used from the taxes to support health care. Anyway, everywhere you go, even in France, you will probably be able to become a much better health care if you accept to pay more for it. Maybe a reason why the US health care did not improve very much in that time was their US war involvement? They possibly did not have that priority.
  • why does france have the best health care?
  • Here under some pretty good information: In Sicko, Moore lumps France in with the socialized systems of Britain, Canada, and Cuba. In fact, the French system is similar enough to the U.S. model that reforms based on France's experience might work in America. The French can choose their doctors and see any specialist they want. Doctors in France, many of whom are self- employed, are free to prescribe any care they deem medically necessary. "The French approach suggests it is possible to solve the problem of financing universal coverage...[without] reorganizing the entire system," says Victor G. Rodwin, professor of health policy and management at New York University. France also demonstrates that you can deliver stellar results with this mix of public and private financing. In a recent World Health Organization health-care ranking, France came in first, while the U.S. scored 37th, slightly better than Cuba and one notch above Slovenia. France's infant death rate is 3.9 per 1,000 live births, compared with 7 in the U.S., and average life expectancy is 79.4 years, two years more than in the U.S. The country has far more hospital beds and doctors per capita than America, and far lower rates of death from diabetes and heart disease. The difference in deaths from respiratory disease, an often preventable form of mortality, is particularly striking: 31.2 per 100,000 people in France, vs. 61.5 per 100,000 in the U.S. That's not to say the French have solved all health-care riddles. Like every other nation, France is wrestling with runaway health-care inflation. That has led to some hefty tax hikes, and France is now considering U.S.-style health-maintenance organization tactics to rein in costs. Still, some 65% of French citizens express satisfaction with their system, compared with 40% of U.S. residents. And France spends just 10.7% of its gross domestic product on health care, while the U.S. lays out 16%, more than any other nation. To grasp how the French system works, think about Medicare for the elderly in the U.S., then expand that to encompass the entire population. French medicine is based on a widely held value that the healthy should pay for care of the sick. Everyone has access to the same basic coverage through national insurance funds, to which every employer and employee contributes. The government picks up the tab for the unemployed who cannot gain coverage through a family member. Regards.
  • actually people it dosent france healthcare is bankrupt, the us by far has a better healthcare system dont let democrates fool you ok its common sense over 76% of americans are satisfied with there healthcare coverage right now, dont get me wrong we do need to work on some things but changing the whole thing around would be a disaster. why do you think the best doctors from all over the world come to practice over here in the us, well heres where the common sence kicks in again, doctors over here get paid far more than any other country period, so obviously the best doctors are going to come here because of the money. if we let big goverment step in and take over our healthcare that would be a disaster once that happens you take away competition and the drive that makes people thrive and be the best they can be will be lost this is another way for goverment to stick there fat noses where it dont belong, once we give in to socialism then its the end of america as we no it.hers how i feel about goverment take over, you cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity, what one person recieves without working for, another person must work for without recieving. the goverment cannot give to anybody anything that the goverment does not take from someone else. when half the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend is the begining of the end of any nation, you cannot multiply the wealth by dividing it!!! hey just to let everyone know im not wealthy at all i work my ass off 50 60 hours a week to get what i want and need for me and my son, i just believe that people have it in them to work hard and do it on there own instead of relying on the goverment to do evrerything for them, because what if the goverment collapeses then what are we gonna do, people have been living there lives without big goverment from the begining of time we can still live happy lives with out them now!! thank you!!!!
  • Yeah, so france simply have such great health care.
  • If you think it is so good in France and so bad in USA, move to France.
  • actually i know many people from canada i go up there somtimes to fish but anyway ive talked to many people about canadas healthcare actually if you need a major surgery you might have to wait along long time to get in there why because its free everybodys waiting for something for nothing and the competition between doctors is not around because there no money to be made so again thats why the best doctors in the world come to the us
  • well if you think about it,it will come to you. first of all they have a president with a IQ over 80,secondly no one is making excuses for everything, thirdly the people work and don't sit around in their getto's crying about what some one else has and how they want it to but don't want to work for it. it will get worse now, just sit and watch, you aint seen nothing yet.have you ever seen a bunch of people who cries we want it all cause you honkies brought us here against our will 200 years ago, folks i did not do that,it was not me. you might want to invest in a time machine and go back and straighten all that out,or shut up and go to work. who cares if i have bad grammer? worrying about my grammer is just a cop out.
  • I have recently moved to the US from France. France does have an amazing health care system. The World Health Organization ranked the French health system as the best over all in the world. The reason is we pay a lot for it in taxes. I think it is well worth it. Our income tax rate is around 50%. We get so many services for it that we need not worry about healthcare or many other things. We also get 6 weeks of payed vacations and work much shorter days then people in America do.
