  • Not enough! Lack of overall corporate sponsorship limits the cash prizes awarded to these deserving athletes. Generally speaking, it's more about the prestige of winning a title, than collecting huge amounts of money. When I was competing at the professional level, my rule of thumb was always this: If I could win a tournament, and the cash/awards were of equal or greater value than my entry fee and travel expenditures, I considered myself fortunate. Sorry to bust the Hollywood myth, but I've never competed in any competition, at any level, where I had the opportunity to win a big rig filled with Benjamins.
