    They feed onto overhead currents, with some form of converter unit in the engines. The currents come from power plants, which one would hope do not generate a lot of pollution. Click on this link for more information:

    The locomotive receives power from an overhead wire or a third rail. The electricity is then routed through electric traction motors which drive the wheels. One side of the circuit is the overhead wire, the other side is the rail, which acts as a ground.

    Depends. Most if not all diesel locomotives are electric. They power a generator to feed the electric drive wheels.

    From its name electric train works through electricity -- any powering that is created from any source.

    The concept here is when electricity is transmitted through overheads lines which in turn make the train move.
