  • I've started a new idea for one a while ago. Right now, it's in the preliminary stages, but I've got the story structure written, and the plot thought out...now I just have to start to work on the dialogue with is my favorite part. I usually start with the dialogue and let the actions play out based on what is said...that's how I write my novels, anyway. It kind of starts out more like a screenplay, to be honest, but eventually I flesh it out.
  • I am in the process of writing my novel too. Its kinda slow right now and I would love to spend one whole week away from everything at home just to write.maybe even go away to invernesshire in scotland, be lost in the mountains and the beatiful scenery could help. my characters and the story is fully outlined and just like yourself I just got to get going with the dialogues. good luck. I gota finish it before end of this year.
  • I like to start with the characters because characters are the best part. You can make them anyone! It's so much fun to create people and make them exactly as you see them, but I'm kind of wierd. Im working on alot of novels right now. It takes me about a year for each one, but in the end I have to forget about it because the editing and such just really puts me down. It's like tearing your best friend to pieces. Lately though I've been lagging behind. Yeah, my muse ran away- have you seen it?
  • I've written a first draft of a novel. It started out as a screenplay, but when I realized that I could never imagine myself actually going to pitch the script to anyone, I switched gears and rewrote it as a novel. I love my characters and it was a lot of fun to watch them develop in surprising ways as I went. I also learned a lot while writing it, as it's the only work I've written that was more than a few hundred words long. (It's currently just over 50,000 words!) After finishing the first draft last December, I decided to let it sit until the end of the year so I could read it with fresh eyes. Then in January, a fellow author asked me to do the photography and design for the cover of her first book, so I got side tracked with that adventure. (I had no experience in cover design and she lives in Australia, while I live in the US. Kinda complicated things a bit. lol) Her cover is finally complete and off to the publisher, so now I don't have any more excuses or distractions. Guess it's time to gear up for re-writes...
  • I've got one that's about 500 pages. I started writing it when I was like 15, and I'm 18 now. So there's probably a lot of immaturish-ness that needs weeded out. So probably like 400 pages. It's a fantasy book, you know the drill, dragons, kings, knights and magic. But I tried to avoid dragons like the plague. It's a little too far fetched to make it as a serious attempt at publishing. But it's great practice and lots of fun.
  • I'm writing a nice little fiction story. I'm making it up as I go along. xD It's comin' along alright. The bad part is that I'm losing both time AND motivation to write it. I've been working on it... since... gee... i think around two or three months? I forget. It's got about sixty pages so far. My biggest concern is actually finishing it, then later smoothing out the parts that need some work, and adding some nice connectors to keep the story slick like oil. I'd love some feedback on it, though. If you'd like to read it, leave your e-mail, and I'll send you a copy.
  • I have been writing since March and I have over 100 pages complete. I am proceeding at a slower pace now as I have to gather some more data for my remaining story.Hope I am able to complete by March next year.I have taken to a full time job for a period of 6 months so my writing will be hampered as I will be hard pressed for time also!
  • I am a hack author.. have been writing a novel for the past 2 years. I have the plot, the structure, the character biographies and the history leading up to the story constructed. I have started the dialog, and am about 500 pages into it and have yet to really start the content of the novel, which is really disheartening. I have put it down for the past 12 months to deal with other things in my life.. Which is a shame and a blessing in disguise. It is my second start at a novel. The first, I tried to write about actual people, actual world... I found the plot came very easy (mystery genre), but trying to get the context correct to be true to how the story would present to true life drove me nuts. This attempt, I have just gone toward gothic adventure, very Tolkien/Eddings style. This made it fun… as I am truly the lord of my world... and I can say anything and the context is correct. It certainly got this venture travelling further than the last one did. My only problem, if I ever finish, the book will be about 5000 pages long. Don’t know if many publishes will approach something on that scale.
  • yes great three months
  • well, i have finished three books already all of them about 150-250 pages. my cousins also want to write so im writing their books for them. the deal is we split all the money we get. it took me about three weeks to write each book and im working on the forth now, im on page 40. its a series and im really confident about it. my ant, my uncle, my mom and dad are all looking over it and they all said it was excellent considering my age. i have many ideas in mind and i dont think ill quit writing any time soon. also ive written about 20 songs that i got my mom to review, she used to be in a band, and she liked them. also i write a little poetry. it comes easy to me and my fans[people at school]say they are really deep though i dont really get into them as much as i do my stories.
