  • increased sugar levels beyond that of the pancreas' capacity will induce a sugar high.
  • Well, i dont go super hyper, but i am alittle peppier that usual when i have alot of sugar and sweets. But: when i have coffee at night, i go what people say "crazy hypo". Lol.
  • I believe they do, i have just started giving my daughter a biscuit after dinner, and she goes hyper she screems and rolls around on the floor more then usual.
  • And there's another myth about sugar. We hear this one from parents all the time. Sugar drives the kids crazy. Even some of the kids believe it. "I go really nuts when I have candy," one girl said. And it doesn't matter how old you are. "You get really — hyper! … I'm like oh, I'm on such a sugar rush right now," a teenage girl said. Lots of people accept the idea that too much sugar makes kids wild and hyper. But is it true? "The research is very clear. Sugar does not make a child hyperactive," Nonas said. Many studies have found that. One published in the New England Journal of Medicine gave some kids sugared foods and others foods with artificial sweeteners. Their parents and the researchers didn't know who was eating sugar and who wasn't. They monitored the kids for things like irritability and hyperactivity. They found no difference. "There is no such thing as a sugar high. And there is no such thing as sugar making you nuts. There just isn't," said Nonas. But I've seen kids go crazy at parties. Isn't that because the sugar kicks in? Actually, no. And some of their moms have figured out what's going on. "The kids are hyper! They are hyper because they are excited. Because they have freedom. Because there are 20 kids, crowding around each other," said insightful mom Hillari Boritz. Right, because it's a party! The studies also show that if food has an effect, it could be the caffeine in chocolate and soda that's giving you the buzz. It's not the sugar.
  • it's entirely dependent on the child. I know that caffeine and sugar have very little effect on my energy levels. I can drink a can of regular Coke and go right to sleep. It depends on the kid.
  • It is a theory and like all theories they are subject to change without notice.
  • no way it is a proven fact that sugar does not make people hyper. It is just an old wise tale that people use as an excuse for being disruptive.
  • depends how much you have resonable amounts of candy like one chocolate bar a day will not make you become hyper but pigging out on all sugar filled items possible will make you hyper and sugar high
  • Most doctors say so but it all, depends on the person ofcourse
  • They sure do make scooby doo jump up and so there youve got your proof that they do
  • Honey is the only thing in nature that I can think of that is like pure glucose (what all carbs finally end up as in your bloodstream).Glucose is what fuels cells.Sugar (sucrose) is almost identical to glucose. Maybe our body chemistry wasn't designed to handle this refinement. We all need oxegen but: you get too much you get too high. -Sweet.
  • Studies go back and forth, but in my experience with little kids it definitely does
