  • Well, I'd assume the person would have a parole officer who might be of some help, even if you're off parole, I'd start there. You might be able to get a lead. Also try state agencies and the local welfare office. Or find a place that doesn't ask on their applications and doesn't do any sort of background check. Try local "mom and pop" type stores or restaurants. A lot of them use those generic applications that don't ask, and if they don't ask, you don't have to tell.

  • To all Ex-Felons and Ex-offenders trying to gain employment, housing and/or drug abuse assistance in the New York City area, go to "THE DOE FUND" website. Click "Criminal Justice".
  • I assume that a felon is like the rest of humanity and wants more then a "entry" level job that does not pay all the bills.It will also depend on the crime committed as the knee jerk gut reactions differ.Construction Fields are a good place to find a "understanding" employer that would offer a second chance for a person that comes across as sincere.Also some states are better then others for starting over states with a sparse population like Wyoming,Alaska,Nevada come to mind. equipment operators are in great demand as well as training positions.
  • Ask your probation or parole officer? try social service organizations that help ex offenders. Apply for a job where there is no background checks done.
  • become friendly with a illinois politician, like mayor or county commissioner
  • Apply to a satalite company owned by a televangelist. They'll offer long hours, low pay, and minimal benefits, but they will hire you.
