Ok I hooked my monitor cord into my hd/tv and nothing happened I went to display and there was nothing about another monitor is there some software that I can download or something I am using compaq hp desktop and I have windows xp and my tv is a toshiba plze help!

I haven't tried this, but you should be able to go into display properties, and simply enable the second display... on my computer, I right click on a blank area of the screen, choose properties, and select display settings.
