Help answer this question below.
Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is associated with money.
Green has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance. Green, as opposed to red, means safety.
And it depends on which green you use:
Dark green is also associated with ambition, greed, and jealousy.
Yellow-green can indicate sickness, cowardice, discord, and jealousy.
Aqua is associated with emotional healing and protection.
Olive green is the traditional color of peace.
Green is very restful to the eye and it's at the opposite end of the spectrum to red, which is also the most emotionally charged colour. So looking at green not gives your eyes a break, it calms you emotoinally.
Tis the color of money and good to have from time to time as much as look from time to time.
Green is smack-dab in the middle of our visible light spectrum. It is easier for our eyes to rest on green. Does it have a benefit? I am doubting it, I think it may give them a rest, especially if you stare at a lot of Reds or Violets.
The eye has evolved over the years to be aesthetically drawn to symmetry and patterns due to plants and vegetation encountered by early man. Likewise this holds true to green in turn. According to the theories of genetic memory, the color green harbors latent hunting instincts in ourselves that prove to be soothing when we are in dire need of finding something to no avail.
I think so. Why would nature give us so much green if it wasn't?
I have certainly heard that.

interesting what you said about yellow indicating sickness - I really love the sunflower yellow I've got in my bedroom, but I do feel ill a lot of the time. Maybe I should change to a more healing colour and I'll start to get well!! :) +

True yellows aren't about sickness, only that yellowish green dingy color. Yellows mean sunshine, it's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. Light yellow is associated with intellect, freshness, and joy.

I've now moved out of my yellow room, but I still love the colour.
Now idea what to paint the next room to get all those great feeling but also to effect love, affection, passion... psychedelia, perhaps?
