  • Measure the volume of a penny and then divide that into a quart. That will tell you how many pennies would fit if there were *no gaps* between the pennies. So you need to figure out as best you can how much space the gap for each penny takes up and add that amount to the volume of each penny and divide again. This should give you a rough number of number of pennies that will fit. Just as a ball park, I'd guess 30-40% of the volume is gaps, but you need to look more carefully than just a wild guess like mine.
