If a spouse is secretly using on-line dating sites....with a membership...and is communicating with others on this site, is this cheating?

It's not cheating in itself, but it is a seriously bad sign that cheating is on the horizon (or has all ready occurred). I would be really concerned and would definitely confront him/her.

What do you think? If it's something they wouldn't do in front of their spouse or unashamedly tell them with no guilt at all, then it's cheating.

IMO, if he/she shows the intent, then yes it's cheating in more ways than one. Ask him why the secrecy and as he followed up on these online connections in secrecy. IMO the trust in the relationship at this point is extremely stressed, it would be a good time to act.
