Help answer this question below.

My husband's family gives us gifts on our wedding anniversary. I have never heard of this practice. I thought that anniversary gifts were only given between the couple themselves. What is your experience with this?

    I have heard of it, especially from parents or children. Usually it is only at important anniversaries, though. ( 10,20,25,30 etc)

    I also have never really understood the idea of outside parties giving anniversary gifts to a couple. They're the ones who should be celebrating each other. I could see if it was a 25 or 50 year anniversary, but my parents expect me to send them a card (at least) every year for theirs. I don't like doing it, I feel like it's not really my concern. I'm a horrible son.

    Both my parents and my husband's parents gave us anniversary gifts for the first few years after we married. Then they stopped. We give gifts to our daughter and son-in-law on their anniversary.

    In our family the parents always give presents to the kids having the anniversary.

    In our family we generally send a card, unless it's a landmark year like 20th, etc. What the couple does is up to them, but I hope it's fun.

    As far as I know, there are no hard and fast rules about it. Depends on the family. Sounds like your husband has a nice family.
