  • I have heard of it, especially from parents or children. Usually it is only at important anniversaries, though. ( 10,20,25,30 etc)
  • As far as I know, there are no hard and fast rules about it. Depends on the family. Sounds like your husband has a nice family.
  • In our family we generally send a card, unless it's a landmark year like 20th, etc. What the couple does is up to them, but I hope it's fun.
  • In our family the parents always give presents to the kids having the anniversary.
  • Both my parents and my husband's parents gave us anniversary gifts for the first few years after we married. Then they stopped. We give gifts to our daughter and son-in-law on their anniversary.
  • I also have never really understood the idea of outside parties giving anniversary gifts to a couple. They're the ones who should be celebrating each other. I could see if it was a 25 or 50 year anniversary, but my parents expect me to send them a card (at least) every year for theirs. I don't like doing it, I feel like it's not really my concern. I'm a horrible son.
