Babies can learn sign language before they learn to talk! It's actually a really helpful and effective way for them to communicate before those verbal skills kick in. There are even videos to help teach your baby signing. It's pretty amazing. I don't think they become 'too old', but it's ideal while they are young and they are still excited to learn.

9 months...when my sun learned it...he didn't how to say milk...or i am hungry...sign language helped me alot.

Kids pick up sign language and oral language just as quickly as each other. BUT, kids can start to use simple nouns in sign language earlier than they can vocalise the spoken words of an oral language. The age where kids stop being able to 'pick up' a language is somewhere between 5 years and 16 years.
