Goldfish will eat their own eggs, this is where a breeder box is useful. There is no need to seperate the female from the males most of the time. If you want to get a lot of fry use a breeding box, seperate the eggs to a fry tank, and be sure to pick out any white (rotten) eggs.
Yes they do. But the best way I know that 'helps prevent most of the eggs from being eaten is to use marbles instead of gravel. The eggs when scattered by the breeding fish will fall between the marbles and safely out of reach of the fish. And when the breeding is over, you can remove the fish or syphon out the eggs.

Goldfish will eat just about everything that fits in their mouths, they eat their eggs and their young, they eat any dead goldfish floating in the tank, and a very big goldfish will eat a very small goldfish as well
My goldfish is developing black line on tail n fin. It swims weird and is most of the time at the surface(not 4 air) throws out all the food

The sides of the mouth on my 2yo Oranda are collapsing. They are so narrow squished peas barely get in. Should I try to open it wider?

My goldfish got ich. I gave it medication (bottle brand: Kordon "Ich Attack") but it's getting even more spots! Help!!
