Do you generally let drivers into the line up..or do you make it impossible for them? (I usually let them in..I don't think 1 car length is gonna make any difference in my life).

It depends. I usually let them in. But, if it is that token driver, that flies by the line, and then tries to sneak in at the last minute, they don't have a snowball's chance in hell with me. I hate it when drivers do that. That is why traffic gets backed up in the first place.

I agree!!

Oh boy! I agree so much!! I actually had a very nice man ask me once why it upset people so much when he did that! I was dumbfounded! He really didn't understand. Even after I tried to explain to him how it looks to the majority of people who are cooperating and taking turns, he said, "But no one is using that other lane! Why would you be upset if I use it when it's empty?" Arghhh! It has been nearly 10 years and I still get a knot in my stomach when I think of how frustrated I was by that conversation and his inability to see my point of view. It made me less likely to let a rude driver in, but I do stop and wonder if they are really stupid, or just acting like it.

Yeah, If they're not too pushy. If they try and push in, they can stuff it.

I try really hard to be civilized like that. Only time I hate to let them in is when they charge down a shoulder and attempt to merge at the last minute, somehow thinking that they don't have to wait like the rest of us!!! grrrrrrr

I will let them in - unless I've seen them acting like an impatent jerk to some one else. Then I will making real tough on them.

I always let them in. I see no sense in not letting cars into a lineup. My problem is the reverse. I need to ease into a lineup every night when I leave work as my office is on a small side street that leads into a very busy main street. It's a daily struggle to find someone who will let me ease into the line. It's so silly, I really don't understand.

I know. I think it must be a territorial instinct or something. People get so defensive and to think that someone might get 10 feet ahead of them seems to be unforgivable.

If they are driving "politely" (signaling, watching where they are going, etc.), then I will let one car in. But if they are driving like and arrogant jerk...not signaling, forcing their way in, weaving in and out of traffic, then..no way!
