  • For lack of a clearer explanation, I will hesitate and say no, it is not legal. For one, is this someone a relative or a friend or a stranger? Will planting the voice recorder ("VR") be used for good or for personal reasons? Will it compromise him or her in some fashion? I cannot imagine anyone could secretly record someone else's car dealings judiciously. It is one thing to record someone who enters your house; it is a whole other beast to enter his or her vehicle, plant a VR, record their conversations, and then plough through the resulting data. I will say that you should pursue other means.
  • The state I live in, it is illegal to record voice without the other persons permission.
