Why dont we have the 'English Dream' like our chubbier, cross-atlantic cousins...?

I don't know......we don't have the 'Scottish dream' either.

It may be as you said, that you are already awake. I'm sure there is and English, dream along with all others (maybe we need a World dream?) but the main reason there is a phrase "American Dream" (I think) is the media here picked it up and as usual run it into the ground. My Appalachian dream is sitting on my front porch here in The Woods sipping tea. :0)
