More then likely you will have a BMP (basic metabolic panel) which consist of levels of several electrolytes and molecules in the serum of your blood including Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Bicarbonate, and Glucose. It also includes the level of two molecules in your blood, BUN and Creatinine, that are good measures of overall kidney function. This test is used to screen for gross kidney, electrolyte and glucose abnormalities. You will also be given a CBC (complete blood count) which will test your red blood cells, white blood cells and your platelet count. It is also procedure for some doctors to give a EKG to make sure its safe to put you down for surgery. This is just a ballpark figure as physicians and States vary with acquired tests. But when I worked in the lab, these were the basic test we performed before any surgery. Also you will need to be fasting for the BMP test to come out accurate.
