  • I just got home from a 2 month tour. One thing I've learned is that you should expect the unexpected. 6 months before the tour I laid out a route that I wanted to travel. Then I compiled a list of venues (coffeeshops, bars, record shops, bookstores, colleges, etc..). 5 months beore the tour, I started emailing and calling these places and tried to book for particular dates. 4 months before the tour, finalize any contracts with venues.. continue contacting venues... make sure you have merch in hand... 3 months before... continue booking... finalize contracts... work out travel arrangement (affordable van, trailer) 2 months before, same as the last couple months, send out promo materials (posters, flyers, press kits), contact radio stations in the areas you're playing, arrange places to stay. (camping and friends work well and save money) 1 month before... same as last month, practice like crazy, test pack your vehicle/traile On tour... play your heart out, have fun, and try not to kill each other. I could get into more details, but this question is kinda vague. Anything in particular you want to know?
  • We get our manager to ring all the top places we want to play, and get gigs on the days we want to play, and then off we go...tripping around.
