Is there a limit to how much the posted speed limits can drop from one section of road to another?

No, I've never seen that in any state. They can go from 55 down to 20 through a town and then back up to 55. Some places taper down if it's going to go real low.

Each jurisdiction, especially small town jurisdictions, have their own laws. In a sense of fairness, the motorists should be given ample warning of a decrease in speed, ahead.
