Yes I have had this happen. The reason they don't want to hire an over qualified person is because they figure they won't stay with the job..that they will leave as soon as a more suitable job becomes available.

Yes. I have experiencing suspected job search discrimination due to my deafness despite my qualifactions and abilities. I have not had a job for 6 months since I relocated to the UK from Bermuda. I have 3 University degrees including a graduate degree. I was told by the recruitment and employment agencies in London that my being Deaf will make them harder to find me work. I don't quite understand. The hearing people tend to get the wrong idea about deaf people. Every deaf person is different. I am intelligent and smart. I have profoundly hearing loss since birth. All the agencies have to do is find the non-based telephone position. I even can't get a data entry or filing clerk position these positions do not require to communiciate with customers. Oh boy!
