  • This may be me being completely ignorant but I didn't think that Kwanzaa was a religious holiday. I don't think that they are related so they could both easily be celebrated. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)
  • OK, Frank, Am I that stupid? Someone told me that Kwanzaa was a black persons or African Americans ( I don't know what's politcally correct) holiday but I know black people who celebrate Christmas. What's the heck is Kwanzaa?
  • I have never heard of Kwanzaa..but I just read that it is a celebration of African Americans...and I live in a city with very very few black people...so I don't really know anything about it...However, if you want to talk about Chinese celebrations..I can help there.(lots of Chinese people in Vancouver):)
  • Great question, Frank! I had always thought it was an either/or however Kwanzaa appears to have no basis in religion: http://www.tike.com/celeb-kw.htm Reading that it sounds like it can be both. As a side note, my friend who was Jewish had a mixed marriage and they celebrated both Christmas and Hanukkah. Throw in Santa and it was a very mixed-up holiday for them!
