  • .... Please don't hurt me.
  • Take the gum from them... Really though, if they're in a public place and aren't doing anything bad to other people, no matter how ill-mannered you may find it you can't (shouldn't) try to stop them. If they're in your home or something, ask them to stop or leave *shrugs*
  • Do something equally annoying so they will go away, such as talking loudly on your phone as close as possible to them.
  • Anything less that serious physical harm is unacceptable as punishment for these unpleasant miscreants. Gum should be out lawed and gum chewers ostracized by society. You know, if we kill one or two the rest will scurry underground like trolls and the problem would be solved. lol
  • Pop them in the jaw? Or just stick gum on their face!
  • Did you happen to see "Chicago"? --only kidding.
  • Off with their heads! It drives me close to insanity. They look and sound, for all the world, like big dumb cows chewing their cud. *smack* *smack*. Brrrr. It's rude, low-class, and as I've said, bovine. I don't know what to do if they're right in front of me, other than put a vacant look on my face and mimic them. On a business phone call, however, I WILL ask, in a rather annoyed tone, if they're EATING something and tell them I don't appreciate them *smacking* in my ear. Can you tell that this is something that I feel rather strongly about? :) I've added a couple of videos for your viewing 'pleasure'. :-Þ
  • That it one of my top pet peeves...along with people who eat with their mouths open and smack their food (and also talk with their mouths full...disgusting! were they raised in a barn?). it IS possible to eat and to chew gum with your mouth closed and without rude noises! It's bad enough when it's kids, but I see adults doing this all of the time. And, working at a call center, I get clients who chomp, smack and slurp while on the phone! Grrrr! I say....staple their lips shut! or maybe use super glue! ....or, both!! (too much??)
  • I joke and say "You can stay, but that gum has got to go" :)
  • OH the gum would have to go. There is no way I would put up with that all day.
  • Gum snapper may not even realize that they do this or that it is audible and annoying. Sometimes the indirect manner works best. Conversation with a 3rd party that can be overheard by the gum snapper could be steered to talk of someone else. Then include the idea that the worst thing that person did was smack their gum all day. 3rd party doesn't even have to know they are part of this conspiracy. Their genuine and enthusiastic agreement that this is the worst will reinforce the message. This saves gum snapper (and you) the embarrassment of you snapping at the gum snapper. Either that or just shoot 'em. ^-^
  • Gum snappers probably know they annoy you. It's a youngster prank to act stupid in public and then peek around corners to see who is pissed. I don't see any reason to avoid conflict on this one, direct confrontaion is the one good tool that works well in a case like this.
