I Have a 2001 Ford Escort, I'd like to change out the radio to a much better one but I'm not sure how since it is connected to the a/c controls.. any suggestions?

Your best bet here is to take a picture and post it here. Then we could all give you a personalized answer or at least ideas. You could also get it done at best buy or car toys or similar since they do the install for you.
