If I had to pick humanities greatest invention/innovation, it would be the underground sewer. If it weren't for these sanitary systems, it is very possible that the human race would be extinct, especially considering the exponential growth in Earths population in the past two centuries. The modern toilet is one of the most important pieces of the disease control machine that humans have invented and implemented. As for criminalizing ignorance, that is a question of civic ethics, in the fact that it can potentially affect millions of people, and no answer to it is correct or incorrect.

Why would anyone not want a toilet in their home? That's crazy talk, but maybe it's just me.
