In Canada (at least Toronto), it is legal to hire a prostitute privately, so long as you don't solicit for sex publicly. Is it the same anywhere in the US?

The actual 'act' of prostitution, is in itself, legal. It's the solicitation of it that's illegal. It's basically 'what two adults do in private is up to them' (hence if they want to exchange sex for money then that's their private business). That's why many escorts sometimes place ads stating 'companionship/time'. Technically they are only selling that, and if in private the money/sex comes into it, then that's between them. As for your Toronto question, I'm guessing you might not know a lot about Canada lol? Correct me if I'm wrong about that. There are many other bigger cities in Canada. Anyway that's my view and what I've heard :)

I believe prostitution is legal (or I guess "decriminalized") in Rhode Island. The law is specific in that it is perfectly legal to hire an escort to come to a private residence (your house, hotel room, etc.) Solicitation is still illegal though.
