No they aren't. Very adorable. We have one (second one actually) and my 7 year old takes care of it fine. I'd recommend an outdoor cage (poop smell) and you can let it in the house for play.

If they're unsupervised in the house they will eat every thing they can get their teeth on ~ stereo wires, woodwork, etc. And ohhhh the poop!!

Rabbits make wonderful pets, especially if they are spayed or neutered. If they aren't they tend to bite and growl more, fight with other rabbits, and very important for a pet rabbit chew less (your furniture will thank you for it, so will your electrical cords) They are very clean, can be trained to use a litter box. But they are not low maintenance. They require a lot of care and attention to keep them sweet and playful. They are more like a friendly funny cat than a dog.
