This depends on what you want to do with the certificate, there are hair nails and makup... some programs include all 3 others focus on one and some on all three. In California a cosmetology certificate takes around 6 months. In the way of pay if you open up your own shop you can charge what you please... a set of french tip arcrylics can be between 25 +tip and 50+tip, remember the better you do the more people will become repeat customers. if you go to different hair salons and check out what prices they charge is the best way to find out the going rates in your area. one more thing to think about....when you have your certificate you can be hired by a salon and you will probably get paid by the hour or get a commision for what you do, you can rent a space from a salon and then you get to keep all of what you make and you just pay rent, or you can open your own salon which is quite a bit more work but then you have the oportunity to have employees or to sub-let.
