In America why are politicans in our government so hated, not trusted and have such a low approval rating?

Because they tend to make promises they don't keep, end up supporting the very people they were against in the first place, and care more about personal image than the politics behind it all. The change their opinions too often, and quite a few of them take credit for things they don't deserve credit for. This doesn't include ALL politicians..They are people, just like the rest of us. Some good, some bad. It's just that in America, we tend to have a glamourized image of what a politician should be embedded in our minds and end up disappointed when they aren't perfect.

It doesn't seem as if the people really do have the power all the time. So you begin to question.. a lot.
