There was a band that came to my school and played during my senior year. I can't remember the name, but they were a local rock band, and they had a clarinet, flute and trumpet player. It actually sounded WONDERFUL. Gave the music a neat edge.

I like some of the string quartet stuff that was on some of the Moody Blues' records of the 70s.
