I'm assuming that you have a litter box thats kept clean and in an area she has acsess to? If you do, maybe you should move her food bowls into the bathroom where the floors are not carpeted...until you can get to the bottom of the problem at least.

Have you had her checked out by the vet? maybe she is trying to tell you something is wrong. Cats usually poop is all the wrong places if they don't like their litter or if it's not clean enuf for them. Have you tried using a different litter?

Maybe she is trying to tell you that the food you are buying her tastes like poop!

put her food bowl in her cat box.

Is it a plastic food bowl??? they should be cleaned after each use, and only put out with fresh food in it -- that's because bacteria gets into the tiny cracks of the plastic. Regardless -- I think your cat is showing it's disrespect for the food -- what the cat doesn't eat when you serve it -- put it back in the fridge and serve it again in a clean bowl in the evening. Also consider trying different food.

I'm not sure why but I think I know what you can do to stop it. There is an enzyme cleaner you get, clean the area where they have been pooping REALLY good. Once a cat does it once, they smell the area and think they need to do it again and again. Use a different bowl too so there is no residual smell. Remember, just because you have cleaned it to where YOU cant smell it doesn't mean that they can't. That's why the enzyme works...

This is very strange behavior. Cats are VERY finicky about their food and "bathroom" areas. I have never heard of a cat pooping near its food. As you say she has started to do this just recently, I would take a guess that something is stressing your cat. They usually only do this when they are uncomfortable in their environment. Have any major changes occurred in your house? Have you moved her box recently? Are new people coming to your house? Have you changed her diet? Have you changed your schedule, working hours, etc? You should talk to your vet.
