Not so rare, but I DID come across a few crazed racoons during the day a couple of times. wow..scary..

Yes, the strangest thing I've ever seen was a crab like creature way up in the mountains of North Carolina and it wasn't even near a stream, just near a puddle.

back in the early 90's(I think it was 1993) there was a mountain lion in someones backyard in the upper haight of san francisco.
