A very good question. Kal-el the surviving son of Jor-el of Krypton is thought to be the strongest member.(The gaurdians of Oa wanted him to be a Green Lantern.) In the alternate DC universes Ultra Man is more powerful than Superman (gains powers when exposed to green kryptonite)Mon-el, Power Girl, SuperWoman, SuperGirl, Bizzaro and Captain Marvel can all give Superman a run for his title. (Don't know about Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew)

Well yeah I've got to agree that Superman is the strongest (out of the original 7)when it comes to brute physical strength. After him I guess it's the Martian Manhunter who's very close to Supes in physical strength. And then it'll be Wonderwoman after him. GL might tie with Wondy in terms of physical strength when his ring is fully charged.

That is actually a very difficult question to answer, and not just for the retort of "what do you meant by strong." The fact of the matter is that every member of the JLA has their own strength, and arguably they are the best at what they do. The reason this is such a hard question to answer is because to be in the JLA you don't need to be able to punch hard, you need to be able to push yourself. Every member of the JLA has been able to rise to the occasion and go beyond what they used to be able to do. notable examples were when the flash acted as a conduit taking momentum away from the whole planet so that the orbit could be changed; or when plastic man stood toe to toe physically with an even more powerful version of The Martian Manhunter (how in the same story arc had bested Superman in combat). So I really don't think we can stand here and give you a definitive answer because they all are far more powerful than we understand them to be.
