Oh man.... There are ton's!!! I have heard stories of some famous players having up to 300!!!! The difference can be sizes 3,5,7.... depth... shape... some mouthpiece's help to get certain kinds of tone... some help hit higher notes.... most players stay usually with a 3c,5c,or 7c.

There are many kinds - because there are many variables - shape and depth of cup, length of stem, circumference, bore, etc etc. Bach mouthpieces are numbered, and the higher the number, the shallower the cup. I find that a shallower cup makes easier it is to hit high notes, but the low harmonics tend to be lost from the sound so the tone is compromised. I use a deeper cup, which gives me a lovely rich tone.
