  • Yes it can! Im including a link to a article that tells you how! there is also a good book on it. I believe its by Jamey Abersold but I may be mistaken. Circular breathing may be a problem for most people to learn because we are used to imitating the human voice with our instrument which has to breathe. With circular breathing you can have long phrases that a human voice could never do. Also tonguing is very hard to do while circular breathing. This for me is a very difficult thing to do.
  • Yes, but it's easier on woodwinds, except for flute. It's especially easy on clarinet, which is what I play. I can circular breathe on the clarinet, but I can't do it at all on my trumpet. My friend is trying to learn how to do it on his baritone, and he uses a cup of ice water and a straw to practice. if you can fill up your lungs with air, deposit a pocket of that air into your mouth, and blow bubbles in your ice water while slowing inhaling through your nose (the air from your lungs is not expelled, only the air deposited in your mouth), you can do that on any instrument. the water is helpful because you can see physical proof (bubbles) of the constancy of the air flow.
