Hey, this is one of my favorites, along with several other types of bracelets, check out the link: http://www.janbrett.com/sailors_bracelet.htm it's also been my experience, with parents, relatives, and friends alike, that almost anything handmade is appreciated; even something as simple as a wooden napkin holder, if you have any talents or skills for making something, make that, i'm sure it will be taken with a sincere smile finally, your local craft store would probably have some suggestions as well, even something that's partly pre-fabricated would be appropriate, in general, anything from the heart is a good gift, and people love seeing that you took the time to actually make them something, instead of just buying a gift

All gifts depend on the recipient. But for example, some cheaper last minute gifts, are jams , and preserves, you can make them yourself, and pretty them up with material lids or covers. Sweets or chocolates are another last minute gift, as well, recycled papers and envelopes, you can make tham again yourself, or purchase them fairly cheaply from environmental shops etc. Flowers, always a lovely gift, if you have a garden yourself, pick them from there, and arrange with bows and ribbons and pretty papers. If you are able to offer, make a hand made invitation for your services for the person you are giving the gift to, offer your services for eg: baby sitting, house cleaning, pet feeding, grocery purchasing etc, thats a lovely gesture, and will only take your time. happy present giving.

Roasted nuts are super easy and can be flavored with salt and herbs, or sugar. Flavored vodka is easy and you can buy a fifth or pint and pour into several jars or bottles each featuring a different flavor. Like ginger, vanilla, lemon etc. you can include some drink recipes too. Here's something for someone who likes plants. You can make a water plant display. find a cool jar, old fish bowl, use your imagination. You'll need to pop into a pet shop with aquarium supplies. pick out a couple of water plants, some can be as little as a $1 or $2. You need to put something into the bottom of the container, glass marbles, gravel, rocks, again, be creative. anything that can withstand being in water can work. Add your plants, they can either float, or you can embed the roots under whatever you've put on the bottom. These are really easy to make, cheap, and unusual. Wrapping might be tricky though. Browse bookstores for easy to make crafts for lots of great ideas. There is no end to what you can do, and there are lots of books to help you. sounds fun to me!
