  • I don't think so... Ginger beer is from the ginger itself... And Root beer is from the root of the sassafras tree...
  • Hell no! Ginger Beer if STRONGLY Ginger flavored and usually only moderately sweetened. The better Ginger Beers (in my opinion) will have a nice burn to it on the way down. My favorite is no longer made but my friend called it "Tracheotomy in a bottle" due to the potency of the ginger flavor. Root Beer is slightly herbal, and usually sweeter; sometimes annoyingly over-sweetened. Also, it is FAR easier to find root beer. I know a few places locally that micro-brew their own whereas I have a hard time finding ANY type of ginger beer, commercial or home/micro-brewed.
  • EW! NO! Ginger beer tastes like Candied ginger or just plain BAD! Root beer is a delight, especially when made with good old fashioned pure can sugar:-)
  • mmmm Ginger Beer yummy! have a ginger beer tree in your own home! just keeps growing! If you do buy commercial ginger beer, make sure it's a good brand and hasn't got too many additives - in the UK, RWhites (Britvic) in the little brown bottles is the best!
  • Yes. They aren't. I should add that GINGER ALE and GINGER BEER are also not the same thing.
  • Nothing beats the beer by itself!!
