Yes, that would be a great idea

I got around that problem by buying socks in bulk - 3 packs of 6 of the same socks. With 36 of the same socks, I just match them up as they come out of the dryer - if I end up with one extra, it stays in the drawer and eventually gets matched up with the next odd one out.

I think I just saw an add for that yesterday or the day before!! Can't recall the brand name, but not a bad idea! I just cleaned my 4 year olds sock drawer yesterday and I am throwing out 6 single socks who have no mates!! Where did they go???
-
I'm sure that if I bought a pack of three I'd manage to lose 2 of them ; ) I just buy large amounts of them at once and match the odds as they come out, like yoho05

Another idea would be to sell them in quantity of 4, so you always have two spares. But you could also just buy two pairs... A problem is that the right sock is usually somewhat different from the left sock, so you would not have a real match. And what would you choose for the third sock: a right or a left one? There is that mathematical problem with a drawer of socks of different colors. For the solution, we always assume that we could take two socks of the same colour, but not of the same foot. But it only works as a workaround. If you are using the wrong side sock for some time, it will usually not last so long and not be so comfortable.

I always buy my socks in sets of a dozen at a time, so as they wear out or go missing, I still have "some" that are identical. As the number of wearable socks gets lower, I just buy another dozen. This has been my solution to the "only one sock" problem.

yebbut, then you wouldn't be able make puppets!

Put a safety pin through each pair before washing. Dry them with the pin still in and only take the pin out once you're folding them together to go back in the drawer.
-
LOL well that is a good idea. Another way is buy several pair the same color.

Always thinking Scooter. Brilliant ;o)
-
YES!!!!! can you suggest that to the appropriate companies? I for one, would appreciate that!
-
if it was sold in a quantity of three, would it still be called a pair? i'd call it "a pair and a spare". ha ha. **kisses**

Sounds like an excellent idea, but I never loose socks so there would be no point of it. :P
