because if the tried the saudis would cut off his hands, or worse?

That is a delusion. They also support military dictatorships, such as that bastard Musharrof from Pakistan. This has been going on even before Bush's presidency. When they get tired of a dictator or if they have lost use of the dictator they get them ousted in the name of democracy. They accept this kingdom,or dictatorship for the political ramifications of oil,and the fact that Saudi Arabia owns much property and investments in the USA.
-
The push for democracy is a red herring to cover up the push for world domination by corporations & banks..
-
It's just an excuse to get what we want and Bush isn't the only one that does it. He's just more arrogant about it. It's like we say to a country, "Choose democracy or we'll kill you." How absurd!

because we are using them..allowing them t do what we wish while we drain them of their natural resources..all the while developing alternative sources of energy that will leave their economy crippled when we no longer need them....just my 2 cents..much love..

USA study the situation of every country before pushing democracey. In Arab countries, if real democracies occure, they'll be definatly against most of the US policies in the region, because they will reflect people's vision. USA wants democracy when it serves it, but when it brings it problems, USA will fight such a democracy. So, since the Saudi king is against and fighting terrorism and loves Americans, keeping him there is better for the american administration.
