  • I do not believe that any game should be banned. I think that people who wish to censor games are usually very confused. Many seem to think that because one person wishes to play a certain game that their mind is being somehow distorted from reality, leaving them in a world where guns and ammo is magically spawned to help them kill the enemy. Well I have been playing games for many years and I haven't come across this yet. On a less sarcastic note, I find it very annoying the way people treat games. If the content of a game such as Manhunt or GTA were portrayed in a book, then these people would have no problem with, it would not even come into question. Video games, like film, like books, are just another medium to tell stories. I see no difference between getting immersed in a good book and doing the same with a video game. I can not help but see it as form chauvinism that one form is better, and it is only seen as better as it is seen as being traditional, seen as being the 'right' thing to get involved in, where as videogames are seen as new and violent. Please remember that allot of video games portray what is happening in the real world. Instead of complaining about the narrative, why not focus on where it comes from. Yup, your precious real world, where your kids are sheltered from violence and drugs, where such things as prostitution and murder never occur. Time to wake up and teach your kids about the true real world not the candy coated stuff you feed them, because the second they turn on the TV there are the wars the people who wanted to ban games started, the second they walk out of the door, there are the murders that don't exist. Another point that has to be raised here is that people are not going to kill people just because they have done it in a game, there is a massive difference between holding PS3 pad then picking up a AK-47, believe me reality would soon hit home and if it doesnt then it wasnt the videogames that did it, there were obviously some mental problems already giong on.
