all the good stories have been told and the people are much wiser,hence their predictability.

Most have always been too predictable and I don't think enough scriptwriters realize the power and appeal of shocks and surprises. True shocks and surprises. Not a cat jumping out in front of someone when a killer is on the loose. Tarantino understands. Scorcese understands. The great writers and directors understand and the bad ones either don't understand or they don't know how to write and/or execute it.

Guy likes girl, guy saves world, girl falls in love with guy, guy and girl kiss, end of movie. No, movies aren't predictable. :P

Perhaps, but the real problem is that a lot of movies are not giving us anything interesting to look at or listen to (in terms of dialogue) while using the same old formulas.
