Can someone tell me how to measure the diameter of a microscope eyepiece? Now=good time to answer

How about:
Calipers, micrometer, read the inscribed numbers on the side of the scope, or look up the specs.

- i tried all of those. I want to know whether a 23mm eyepiece would fit in. On the side of the piece, it says 18mm, but that's the diameter of the lens. Are 23mm (for example) eyepieces measure by the diameter of the lens or by the whole diameter?

- All I could find is that 23mm is pretty common for microscopes - so that would suggest it would fit.
